Portland Seminary is excited to announce our 2025 Spring Conference, featuring guest speaker A.J. Swoboda, an influential voice in the intersection of theology and spiritual formation. This year’s theme, "Slow Theology: Practicing Theology as a Means to Resilient Faith," will delve into the importance of slowing down in our theological reflection and how it fosters a deeper, more resilient faith.

Monday, March 3, 2025
9am-1:30pm
Alongsiders Portland (in person and online)

Session Topics Include:

  • The Theology of Slow: In this lecture, we’ll explore a holistic, biblical understanding of "slowness," focusing on God's character as “slow to anger” (Exodus 34:6) and how embracing slowness can cultivate godliness in the people of God.
  • The Slowing of Theology: This lecture will apply the theology of "slow" to our theological reflection. We will discuss why slowing down is critical in theological study and the dangers of rushing through the process of meditative theology.

AJ Swoboda will guide us through these thought-provoking topics, inviting us to consider how a slower, more intentional approach to faith and theology can deepen our relationship with God and strengthen our resilience in today’s fast-paced world.

This event is open to students, alumni, and all those interested in exploring a slower, more meaningful approach to theological reflection. We hope you’ll join us for a day of rich learning, spiritual growth, and community.

Please register by February 21, 2025 to secure your spot.
